Gas One Portable Butane Camping Stove

Hot coffee at 0530 when the cabin stove is cold.

Portable butane camping stove lit with a blue flame on the open tailgate of a pickup truck, a kettle steaming on top, a cooler and canvas rucksack beside it, Tennessee fields and a setting sun behind. A flannel-sleeved hand rests on the tailgate.

How John uses it

This is the stove I set up in the clearing when I’m out past a meal. A single butane canister will boil water for coffee, heat a can of soup, and still have gas left. I’ve used it on the tailgate of the truck, on a flat rock by the creek, and once on the porch when the cabin’s propane line needed repair.

Auto-ignition matters more than the spec sheet makes it sound. One-handed lighting in cold wind is the difference between a working stove and a cold meal. The case is what keeps the stove alive for ten years instead of two.

Why John recommends it

Every off-grid kitchen needs a backup heat source that doesn’t depend on the main one. Butane canisters are cheap, stable, and available at any hardware store. When the propane runs out or the generator is down, the difference between a hard day and a miserable one is a hot meal.
