I've been tracking The Flashes since January 12th. 221 days. 13 complete cycles. Every 17 nights, without fail.
The pattern was so reliable I could set my watch by it. Night 1: single flash, northwest quadrant, approximately 40° above horizon. Night 17: triple flash sequence, same location, same angle. Then nothing for 16 nights. Repeat.
I've filled three notebooks with this data. Times, compass bearings, atmospheric conditions, moon phase, everything. The interval never varied. Not once.
Until last night.
## WHAT HAPPENED
Last night was supposed to be Day 16 — the quiet night before the sequence resets. I was out there anyway because that's what I do. 23:47, I'm reviewing my logs by red flashlight when the northwest quadrant lights up.
Three flashes. The Day 17 sequence. One night early.
I grabbed the night-vision camera, but by the time I had it aimed, it was over. 4.2 seconds total, same as always. But the *timing* was wrong.
I've been staring at my notebooks all morning. Checked my calendar three times. Counted on my fingers like a schoolkid. The math is simple: January 12th to August 20th. I didn't miscount.

## WHAT BOTHERS ME
But here's what keeps me at this desk instead of sleeping:
If it's satellites, why the 17-day interval for seven months? Orbital mechanics don't work that way. Satellite flares repeat, sure, but not on that kind of cycle.
And if I miscounted, why did last night's sequence match the Day 17 pattern exactly? Same northwest bearing. Same triple-flash signature. Same 4.2 second duration.
The numbers don't lie, but they don't always tell the whole truth either.
I've been tracking this for 7 years now. Lights, sounds, signals, dead zones. Looking for the one piece of evidence that holds up under scrutiny. I haven't found it yet. Maybe I never will.
But this — this feels different. Not because something appeared. Because something *changed*.
