The Hum Changed Frequency — And Now I Can Hear It Too

I woke up to it.

Not a sound that woke me — more like a pressure change in the air, the kind you feel before a storm rolls in. But when I sat up in bed, fully awake, I could hear it: a low, pulsing hum, somewhere between 40-60 Hz if I had to guess. Steady. Rhythmic. Unmistakable.

For context: I've been documenting reports of "The Hum" since 2019. At least a dozen locals have described it to me over the years — Old Harold, the Sheriff's deputy, two hikers who camp near The Ridge. They all say the same thing: low frequency, almost subsonic, like a diesel engine idling somewhere just out of sight. Some hear it constantly. Others only at night. A few have moved away because of it.

I've never heard it. Not once. I've run audio spectrum analysis during reported events. I've checked for industrial equipment, HVAC systems, wind turbines within a 20-mile radius. I've logged seismic activity, atmospheric pressure, even solar wind data. Nothing correlates.

## What Changed

I grabbed my handheld recorder and SDR rig. The frequency analyzer showed a peak at 52 Hz — right in the range others have described. But here's what's strange: the signal wasn't coming through my antenna array. It was coming through the *walls*. Through the *ground*.

I stepped outside. The hum was louder.

I walked toward The Clearing — my primary observation post, about 400 yards from the house. The hum intensified with every step. By the time I reached the tree line, it felt less like sound and more like *vibration* — something I was feeling in my chest cavity, in my jawbone.

0412 hours: Peak intensity. I'm standing in The Clearing, recorder running, trying to describe what I'm experiencing. My voice on the playback sounds steady, but I remember my hands shaking. Not from fear — from the *resonance*. Like standing too close to a subwoofer.

0431 hours: It stopped. Not gradually — just *gone*. One second it was there, the next it wasn't. Total duration: 44 minutes.

## The Evidence (And What It Doesn't Prove)

I've got 44 minutes of audio. The spectrum analysis shows that 52 Hz peak clearly for the first 22 minutes, then it drops off — but I could still *feel* it for another 22 minutes after the measurable signal disappeared.

Two possibilities:

Option A: Some kind of atmospheric or geological phenomenon I don't understand. Infrasound can travel long distances through the ground. Certain seismic events produce frequencies in this range. There's a natural gas pipeline about 8 miles south — maybe pressure changes in underground infrastructure create resonance effects. The timing could be coincidental. My sudden ability to hear it could be age-related hearing changes, making me sensitive to frequencies I previously couldn't detect.

Option B: Something else. Something that's been here all along, operating at frequencies most people can't perceive. Something that *changed frequency* last night — or changed *me*.

I've been tracking aerial phenomena for seven years now. I've never found proof. But I've also never experienced something this *physical*, this *undeniable*. Whatever it was, it was *real*. I have the recording. I have the data.

But here's what bothers me: Why now? Why, after all these years of listening to other people describe this exact phenomenon, did I suddenly become sensitive to it? Did the frequency change? Or did something change in *me*?
