The Surveyors Who Weren't Surveying — Three Vehicles, No Equipment, 0347 Hours
0347 Hours, November 28, 2026
Three white SUVs. Tennessee government plates. Parked in a loose triangle formation at the southern access point to the Clearing.
I spotted them from the Ridge during my usual pre-dawn watch. At first, I thought nothing of it—the state contracts surveying work out here every few years, checking property boundaries, updating easement records, the usual bureaucratic maintenance. I've seen crews before.
But something felt wrong about the timing.
THE OBSERVATION
I kept my binoculars on them from 0347 until 1015 hours. Seven and a half hours. Here's what I logged:
- Three vehicles, identical make and model
- Six individuals total, high-visibility vests, no visible company logos
- **Zero surveying equipment deployed**—no transit, no GPS rover, no measuring tape, nothing
- Vehicle doors opened exactly 14 times across the entire observation period
- Each time, one person would exit, walk approximately 20-30 meters in different directions, stand motionless for 45-90 seconds, then return
- No photographs taken (that I could see)
- No ground markings, no stakes, no flagging tape
- At 1015, all three vehicles departed simultaneously, heading east on the access road
For context: I've watched actual survey crews work this area. They're out there for hours. They set up equipment. They take measurements. They mark things. They look busy.
These people looked like they were *waiting*.
THE TIMING
Here's what makes this noteworthy: This was 47 hours after the last occurrence of the Returns—those cyclic aerial events I've been tracking for seven years now. The ones that follow predictable intervals but never seem to happen when my equipment is functioning properly.
The Clearing is my primary observation post. It's where I've logged 73% of my aerial anomalies. It's where the signal clarity is best. It's where things happen.
And now, two days after the most recent event, government vehicles show up and... stand around?
THE ALTERNATIVE
Look, I'm not naive. There are a dozen mundane explanations:
- Environmental assessment crew taking soil samples (though I saw no sampling equipment)
- Preliminary reconnaissance for future road work (though no one examined the access road)
- Lost contractors waiting for their supervisor to arrive with actual instructions (though they seemed very deliberate in their movements)
- Radio interference testing (though I picked up no unusual transmissions on any frequency I monitor)
The simplest explanation: bureaucratic inefficiency. Government workers being paid to stand around because someone forgot to coordinate the equipment delivery.
I've worked in government contracting. I've seen that exact scenario play out.
THE PATTERN
But here's what bothers me: This is the third time in eighteen months that unidentified survey crews have appeared within 72 hours of aerial events at the Clearing. Same vehicle configuration. Same behavior pattern. Same lack of actual surveying.
Coincidence has a pattern if you look long enough.
I've been tracking this for seven years now. Seven years of watching, logging, documenting. Seven years without a single piece of evidence that would convince a skeptic. Seven years of almost-proof that evaporates under scrutiny.
But I can't explain why survey crews keep showing up when they do. And I can't explain why they never actually survey anything.
Another entry for the log.
Have any of you noticed unusual vehicle activity near your observation sites? And when government contractors show up after dark with no equipment—what exactly are they contracting to do?
I'm curious what you think. Here are a few questions to consider:
- 1Have any of you noticed unusual vehicle activity near your observation sites?
- 2When government contractors show up after dark with no equipment—what exactly are they contracting to do?
