The simultaneous extinguishing could be burnout if they were ignited at the same moment. The perfect triangle could be deliberate spacing by the deployment mechanism.
Fort Campbell is 180 miles northwest. They conduct night exercises. The winds aloft last night were 15-20 knots from the west-southwest — consistent with what I observed.
But here's what bothers me: I've seen military flares before. They flicker. They drift more erratically. They're usually orange-red, not white-blue. And I monitor the NOTAM frequencies — there was no notice of aerial exercises in this area last night.
